What sorcery is this?

[On the screen is one Gundam Tanaka who seems to be slightly, okay more than slightly, alarmed by the recent Christmas surprise.

Oh, and an egg.]

This...this...egg appears to have burst forth from the void itself, seeing as it is neither one of the ones I have recently obtained nor is it one that my fearsome creatures have produced.

[...as far as he knows anyway.]

I have yet to experience such a thing, even though I have seen things that would drive any mere human mad. So my question is this, what sort of unimaginable terror slumbers within, and what unseen foe could have concocted such a devious scheme?

[Seriously, where did this come from?]

I demand you make yourself known, so that you may face your own undoing at the hands of I, Gundam Tanaka!

[...or so he can ask where the hell the egg came from. That's way more likely.]

I have an unfamiliar egg, too...at first I didn't notice it among the others, but now that I look at it...it is definitely different.

[Once you've bred as many different Pokemon as he did the past week, you start to remember what the eggs of certain species look like.]

And...you are sure that couldn't be from any of your own Pokemon?

It is not. I inquired and not one of them came forward and admitted to this act of trickery.

[...which basically consisted of yelling WHICH ONE OF YOU DID THIS in Gundamese.]

Yes, that's right. I can't say I know where mine came from, either. It was just here when I woke up this morning.

I see. So the fiend responsible means to target everyone, not only those of with skills such as mine.

At least that's what I think so. My brother got one too and you're probably the second person I've seen ask about them...

I wouldn't really call them a fiend... but I guess without knowing the motivation behind these eggs, we really can't tell if their intentions were good or bad.

But why would such a thing happen to you too?

So the intentions behind these supposed gifts remain a mystery?

Then perhaps one such as I should use my talents to unravel the mysteries of these eggs.

I'm not sure. But someone had to send these, if our Pokemon didn't have them...

Then the question is what sort of force could be capable of sneaking such a thing past not only the eyes of everyone else, but my All Seeing Eye as well?

[He's just going to keep bringing that up because maybe someday it will somehow be a thing.]

Well...a lot of strange things happen here. Pretty often, too...and people who have abilities like that before arriving here usually find that they can't use them anymore.

[He isn't quite sure if Gundam is talking about having actual powers or not...but if he is, wouldn't it stand to reason that his would be diminished like everyone else's?]

Well... it is Christmas. If almost everyone got an egg, it's probably safe to conclude they're gifts. But from who... that's probably another story.

I have heard such tales, I, Gundam Tanaka, the Super High School Level Animal Breeder cannot be constrained by the same restrictions as others!

Though my abilities seem restricted on this plane, it is clearly through some sort of different means.

[...You know, he's probably making a huge mistake attempting to help this kid out, but he's going to try!! ...And switch it to audio so his expression isn't painfully obvious because he can feel himself making one of those faces.]

From what I've seen this sort of thing happens every so often, usually around this time of year. It's probably because of the holidays. No one knows how the eggs get here, but everyone receives one and they usually contain a rare Pokémon.

[He just shakes his head a little. NEVER CHANGE, GUNDAM...]

I'm not sure if we'll be able to figure out where they came from, but it looks like everyone got one.

But...that's nice anyway, don't you think? I mean, however this happened, it isn't really hurting anything...and I'm curious to see what sort of Pokemon is inside.

One such as I does not require luck.

[A pause.]

An excellent point. I too wonder what creature dwells within.

[Though really, everyone's probably curious about it. If somebody gets a mystery egg, it's almost like they're obligated to wonder what it is.]

That's true. Oh, by the way...do you have a fire type with you? They can help eggs hatch faster.

I do indeed. By conversing with a fellow breeder, I recently obtained a flaming hound of hell, which I believe belongs to the type of which you speak.

[...it's a Houndour.]

[Further notes to self: do not breed fifty+ eggs again all at once because gracious Lord.]

Every Pokemon I have obtained thus far has proven to be a worthwhile companion, so you need not worry. I am certain it will prove useful.

That's good. Do you have quite a few Pokemon with you?

I have, indeed. The egg of mystery would be my twelfth acquisition should it prove to be a Pokemon and not some sort of otherworldy terror.
