[When the feed starts, Gundam's holding the Soul Badge up to the camera...and wearing one of those scarves Chihiro was offering a week ago.]

Such a confounding challenge. Though I suppose I should have expected as match from the toxic terrors lurking within the Gym's walls.

[He might've had some problems with the invisible walls. Apparently his so called All Seeing Eye didn't really do him much good there.]

Next, I shall prepare for challenging the precognitive powers of the Saffron City Gym. It seems that even I, Gundam Tanaka, the Supreme Overlord of Ice, can become a creature of routine now that our ominous October is at an end.

[...it was probably a lot worse than ominous, but ominous October sounds cool and spooky doesn't it?]

What I would like an answer to is thus, has the same happened to the rest of you, or do you still tremble in fear at the otherworldly forces that transformed this world?

[He probably could've picked a less intimidating way to ask that, but then well, he wouldn't be Gundam, would he?]

[Heh. This guy sure is... lively, for lack of a better word. Riku can't help but chuckle a little at his speech. It's so dramatic, like someone from a superhero cartoon.

But eh. He knows better than to be a jerk about it, at least.]

Nah, it's definitely gone back to the routine. Honestly, things going nuts in October is just another part of that routine. It's been happening ever since I got here, and that was five years ago...

[He pauses, glancing at a calendar on the wall.]

In fact, I bet you anything we'll be seeing a whole flood of newbies later this month. Always happens this time of year.

I would be a fool to take such a bet. One can almost measure time itself simply by paying attention to that phenomena.

[In other words, yeah, he expects that to happen too.]

But to say things such as that calamity happen regularly at that time of year is concerning. To think that no one has begun to unravel whatever dark enchantment has cursed the world with such yearly misfortune.

[That sounds like there should be more to that statement, but there really isn't. Because the hell if he knows what to do there.]

Are you sure it's an enchantment and not just a part of this world? This is a place with magic ledges and nightmare inducing Pokédex entries.

[He could go on. Yamask, Parasect, Haunter, Gorebyss... For as bright and cheery as the world appears, there's definitely a dark undertone.]

Don't get me wrong. I'd like to get to the bottom of things-- there's no way you can chalk all of it to Legendary Pokémon or evil teams. Sometimes it's predictable, like ghost types possessing people, but then you get living glitches and that whole mess with the fusions...

Heck, a few years back, we got dragged into some weird, nightmare dimension.

Let me ask a question in return. Are you sure that this world's magic isn't an enchantment? To speak of magic as if it were not magic betrays your lack of understanding in such matters.

[Because he has no idea Riku comes from a world where people can learn Fire and bash crates to find MP Orbs.]

Who says all magic has to be an enchantment? Could just come natural to the world. Pokémon do have some pretty crazy powers, after all.

[And that's all innate, whether through levels or breeding or bashing the mover the head with discs.]

...Though that still doesn't explain everything, like how we're basically immortal here, or where the meat comes from.

[Because meat is serious business, and it's baffling that it even exists wen people can't eat Pokémon.]

I believe that latter question is best left unanswered. No doubt learning the horrifying revelation behind that mystery would be the type of arcane knowledge to shatter a mortal mind.
